FX Union kicked off their first ever BUCS football league campaign with an emphatic 6-2 away win over Bath Spa 2nds.
After a tight first half FXU took control in the second half with four superbly taken goals.
Union started the game dominantly, but after missing a few chances fell behind after a defensive lapse in the box.
The visitors responded quickly, however, when captain Tom Harris’s deflected shot looped over the Bath Spa goalkeeper.
The hosts somehow found themselves back in front later in the first half after a defensive lapse from a throw in.
Despite this second scare, Harris yet again brought FXU level with a driven free-kick just before half time, leaving the score 2-2 at the interval.
Union came out the box quickly in the second half and made their dominance count with two quick fire goals.
Midfielder Alec Stevens got the first with a header from a Joe Vose free-kick, striker Sam Blackwood then made it 4-2 from the penalty spot after Zach Terry was bundled to the ground.
The Falmouth side then added gloss onto the score line with two late goals.
Substitute Zach Terry got his first of the season after Giacomo Niola’s shot was deflected into his path.
Centre-back Alfie Hards made it six with the final play of the game, heading home from a Vose corner.
The win should spur on the side ahead of a busy month of fixtures in both the Sunday league and BUCS league.
Next up for Union is an away game to Tregony on Sunday, followed up by a huge BUCS cup tie away to Exeter.
