FXUnion FC triumphed to their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Tregony FC at Falmouth School in the Dropship Sunday League.

Union had been behind early on but goals from Laurence Willmore, Tom Harris, Aimydj Elenda, Oliver Harkjær and Fabian Thomas secured all three points for the hosts.
After just five minutes, Tregony took the lead with a freak cross which was caught by the heavy breeze and looped into the far corner. Union replied in good voice; Harris was denied by the keeper and the post before sending in a corner which was met by Willmore to equal the scores. A tense first-half followed as an injury-hit Union looked to get ahead, but a defensive error allowed Tregony to take the lead and make the score 1-2 at the half-time whistle.

After the break FXU came out the stronger of the two sides and found themselves penned into the Tregony half, but to no avail. For a time it looked like it wasn’t going to be their day, but luck was on their side when the Tregony goalkeeper parried a shot onto the post giving Tom Harris the easiest goal of his career tapping in from barely a yard out.
The bombardment continued as two goals quickly became three. Fabian Thomas, who had worked hard all game, beat a defender to a loose ball and powered his shot past the goalkeeper for his third goal of the season.

Not long after, good work from Ted McDonnell down the left resulted in an intelligent pass to Oliver Harkjær who powered home from 25 yards to further FXUnion’s lead over the tiring Tregony side.
Flowing with confidence, chances kept coming for the hosts as Aimydj Elenda scored the best goal of the game. Tip-toeing past four Tregony defenders, Elenda slotted his shot low past the goalkeeper to make it 5-2 with virtually the last kick of the game – securing the three points.
