Megan Fatharly, Online Arts Editor, reveals her findings of a new gallery space.
On the 4th of December the John Howard Studios opened its doors to its new gallery space. The space will mean that artists who use the studios will be able to also showcase work.
This is fantastic as the medium of print-making is a traditional skill which John Howard promotes through his own practice and through the teaching of workshops at his studio. The space will also be open for people to use to exhibit to continue to promote the importance of drawing and printmaking.
Local artist Lesley Harry who uses the studios to produce her own etchings said that; “The extended facilities and the permanent gallery mean that the studios are well set up to be a printmaking centre of excellence in the South West. An amazing resource for artists so thank you John!”.
John Howard was my tutor on the foundation course at Falmouth University where he and the technicians helped me find a love for printmaking and its process. At the studios workshops are also run so if you’re interested in learning a new skill; whether it be etching or screen-printing I highly recommend using these facilities.
