Political fashion statements are not unusual at the Oscars and this year Joy Villa was leading the charge with a “Build The Wall” dress.
American singer and songwriter, Princess Joy Villa, 27, is no newcomer to being in the spotlight for having a strong opinion and wanting everyone to know about it.
The Californian singer has very strong Republican views and as such she went to the 64th Grammy awards in LA dressed as the wall that Donald Trump aims to build at the border.
The outfit was made by Desi Designs Couture, who posted a disclaimer on their social media accounts saying the dress was made to represent the wearer’s views, and not the company’s own.
Along with racist undertones the dress’s wall-like pattern that seems reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s song ‘Brick in the Wall’
The dress included a ‘Make America Great Again’ bag and a spiked headdress reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
This in not the first time Joy Villa has been in the spotlight for politically charged dress sense.
Last year she wore an anti-abortion dress to broadcast her views. In an interview with Fox News, Villa explained her thoughts behind her decision: “I’m a pro-life woman. This year I chose to make a statement on the red carpet like I always do. I’m all about life.”
She has since been slammed as one of the “worst dressed”.
