By Josephine Walbank

Comedy Night: Lou Sanders and Luke McQueen
Thursday 1 March – 19.30, AMATA (Penryn Campus)

AMATA’s Spring/Summer programme for 2018 includes its first ever comedy night, taking place on the 1st of March at half 7. AMATA will host Lou Sanders and Luke McQueen, two of the UK’s most talented comedians.

Lou Sanders is known for her realist comedy, with her sketches all based on her own life and indeed her own embarrassing moments. She has appeared on a whole host of television programmes including Russell Brand’s Stand off for Red Nose Day, Alan Davies’ As yet untitled and on the Russell Howard Hour. In addition, Lou has also written for 8 out of 10 cats, Mock the Week, Stand up for the Week and Miranda. Altogether, her list of appearances includes Comedy Central, Dave, ITV, Channel 4, BBC Radio One, and she has been named as one of the top comics to see in Vogue, Elle, The Times, The Independent, and The Guardian.
In an interview with Female First, Lou describes her comedy as “A nice bit of clean fun. But with swears in. I mean I don’t do anything political or serious. I’d love to but it’s not my area – the world at large – not my area. Think more jingles, one-liners and French kissing”

The second comedian performing at AMATA is Luke McQueen, who has been performing stand-up comedy for over 10 years, and has made appearances on BBC3, ITV2 and ALL4. He was a finalist in the competition English Comedian of the Year (2009), and is known for his sketches ridiculing ex-comedy partner Jack Whitehall.
