This week history was made by the FXU Tridents, who, in their first home game in over four years, came back from behind to snatch victory in the final seconds of their match against Winchester University! There were also big wins for the Falmouth Falcons and CSM FC as both teams continued to climb their respective leagues!
FXU Tridents 33 – 28 Winchester Silverbacks
“FXU Tridents played their first full home game in over four years and came away with a dramatic win, for their first win in four years as well. A Tridents team with a vast number of new players who had only taken up the sport two months prior, took on a fresh and well drilled Winchester Silverbacks side. Though Winchester took an early lead the Tridents came back stronger and lead at the end of the half 6-15.
“The second half was a more even affair, with the demands of the game beginning to show on our team, as well as their much larger squad meant that they were able to regain the lead with just a minute on the clock. However, a superb Tridents fight back from both the Offence and the Defence resulted in a ‘Disney-esque’ game winning 30 yard touchdown with just two seconds on the clock for a Tridents 28-33 victory.
“The team played phenomenally well all round with great technique and talent on show, especially for such an inexperienced and often makeshift team, showing that the future only holds bigger and better things for the team which is constantly improving.”
— Drew Baigent, FXU Tridents Equipment Master
Falmouth Falcons 36 – 6 UWE Foxes
Falmouth Falcons 14 – 12 University of Portsmouth 2nds
“The Falcons travelled up to Bristol for their second league meet of the season this Sunday. Our first game was against UWE Foxes, a relatively new team to the sport.
“The Falcons’ greater experience showed throughout, allowing us to control and dominate the game, finishing with an impressive 36-6 win.
“Our second game of the day was against Portsmouth 2nd, we knew they would present a much stronger and organised opposition. With some good dodgeball on show from both teams, the Falcons remained in front throughout the match and managed to hold off a late comeback attempt form Portsmouth, winning 14-12.
“A great day for the Falcons with the two wins leaving us sitting 3rd in the South West University League!”
— Ryan Borley, FXU Dodgeball Vice President
CSM FC 4 – 2 Helston Athletic 3rds
“A solid second half display saw CSM ease to victory on a difficult pitch after heavy rains. Clinical finishing was key – including a screamer from Callum Bees to open the scoring early on and a superb long-range strike from Jack Bongard on his debut in the second half – but Man of the Match went to Tom Foulk for an excellent performance at full-back”
— Josh Oldridge, CSM FC Secretary
Plymouth University 3 – 3 CSM (GoCrea8 Hockey League Southern 2)
St Agnes 17 – 26 CSM (Tribute Cornwall League)
Union 3 – 3 Tremough [AET, Union won 5 – 4 on penalties] (Cornwall Sunday Cup)
