With nationwide forecasts of snow and warnings of severe winds, the weather is certainly beginning to look more Christmassy! Walking through Glasney yesterday evening, not one kitchen could be seen without Christmas lights and almost every kitchen had a tree to boot.

It seems like Christmas has come even earlier this year with the early birds hanging up their stockings during reading week! Although.. those Christmas adverts in August are a bit of a Kitchens everywhere have developed a case of Christmas fever.pain, ‘back to school’ mixed with Christmas cards in W H Smith is not a good look…

Nevertheless there was nothing to put you more in the mood for Christmas than the Christmas Extravaganza led by the FX Orchestra last Friday. It was truly a night to remember with a warm atmosphere, delicious vegan brownies and the last musical piece from Pirates of the Caribbean was definitely a surprise! Keep an eye out for more of the festive cheer before the next holiday from this lot with the Spring Concert happening March 2016!

Now for a break-down of the top 5 best Christmas events happening this week both on and off campus!

Monday 30th November: Yes it is a Monday and yes we have deadlines but there is nothing more Christmassy than the FXU’s very own Harry Potter themed Yule Ball put on by the Harry Potter Society! A night of waltzing, ice-cream bars and live music is not to be missed!

Tuesday 1st December: The EcoSoc and Wild Doc Soc are teaming up to bring you The Polar Ball at the Gylly Beach Café, the free mulled wine is definitely an offer I can’t refuse!

Saturday 5th December: The Cornish Street Food Collective and Falmouth Town Council have arranged a fantastic day of street food on Falmouth Moor. Expect live music, a range of mouth-watering cuisine and a mulled-wine bar!

Saturday 5th December: What better way to welcome in the festive month than with Christmas lights? That’s right folks, the Penryn Christmas Lights Switch on is back with stalls in St Gluvias Hall – time to get started on that Christmas shopping!

Tuesday 8th December: The GeogSoc Christmas Soiree is back with live music and those all-important mince pies, down at the Gylly Beach Café!

That’s certainly enough to keep smiles on our faces before the end of term, so all that’s left to say is, Merry Christmas Everyone!
